How to share Blender renders with a client for feedback
Render, upload and collect frame-accurate notes without leaving Blender, plus how to share .glb models your client can orbit and pin comments to.
Most video review tools are built around Premiere Pro and After Effects. If you work in Blender, the review loop is usually improvised: change the output settings, render an MP4, remember to change the settings back, upload the file to Drive, and collect notes over email that say "the camera move around frame 140 feels fast".
This guide shows a tighter loop with Seamlift's Blender add-on, which we make. It also covers sharing 3D models, which is the other half of Blender review that most tools ignore.
What the add-on does
The add-on lives in a Seamlift tab in Blender's sidebar (press N in the 3D Viewport or the Video Sequencer). It does two jobs.
Review Render renders the scene's frame range, from the 3D scene or the Video Sequencer, to an MP4 and uploads it to a Seamlift project as a new version.
The review file is H.264 with AAC audio, at the scene's own resolution and frame rate.
Your own output settings are saved before the render and put back afterwards, so you never end up rendering your final frames as a preview MP4 by accident.
The upload resumes if the connection drops, and retries chunk by chunk.
3D Assets shares models through the project:
Upload Selection as GLB exports the selected objects to one
.glb, with modifiers applied and textures embedded, and adds it to the project's shared Assets folder.Import into Scene lists the project's
.glbmodels and imports the one you pick.
It runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, with Blender 4.2 or newer.
Step 1: Install and connect
In Seamlift, go to Integrations → Blender and download the add-on.
In Blender, open Edit → Preferences → Get Extensions, click the ⌄ menu at the top right, choose Install from Disk… and pick the
.zip.In Preferences → System → Network, turn on Allow Online Access. Blender requires this for any add-on that talks to the internet.
In Seamlift, click Generate connect code and copy it. In Preferences → Add-ons → Seamlift, click Paste code & connect.
Step 2: Render and send for review
Open the Seamlift tab, choose the project, and click Render & Send for Review. Blender renders the frame range to a review MP4 using temporary settings, restores yours, and uploads the file as a new version.
For a long Cycles animation, render the preview in Eevee or at lower samples first. Clients are judging timing and composition at this stage, not noise.
Step 3: Share it with the client
In Seamlift, open the version and create a share link. Turn on guest comments, so the client can leave notes without making an account. Keep downloads off for work in progress, and add a password or expiry date for unreleased work.
The client opens the link in any browser and plays the render. Wherever something should change, they pause and type, and the note is pinned to that exact frame. For animators this matters: "the bounce lands a frame early at 3:14" is something you can fix; "the bounce feels off" isn't.
The player steps one frame at a time with the comma and period keys, which makes frame-level timing notes easy for anyone reviewing animation.
Teammates with a Seamlift account can also draw on the frame, which is the fastest way to say "this shadow" or "move the logo here".
Step 4: Work through the notes and render again
Each note can be marked to do, in progress or done. Work down the list, render again from the add-on, and the new version lands in the same project. Notes from the last version stay with it, so the new one starts clean and you can always check what was asked for.
Sharing 3D models for review
Not everything a Blender artist delivers is a video. Product models, characters and props often need sign-off as models.
Upload a selection from the add-on as a .glb and it appears in the project's Assets folder. Opened in Seamlift, a .glb or .gltf file plays in a 3D viewer in the browser. Project members can orbit it and pin a comment to a point on the model. Clicking a pin later flies the camera back to the view it was left from, so "the bevel on this corner" means exactly that corner.
Models up to 500 MB can be uploaded from the add-on. Other artists on the project can pull the same model into their own scene with Import into Scene, so everyone works from the latest approved asset rather than a copy from a chat thread.
Who this suits
Freelance 3D and motion artists sending animation previews to clients who don't use Blender.
Small studios where several artists share models and need to know which one is current.
Product visualisation work, where the client signs off on the model and on the turntable render.
FAQ
Is there a Blender render review tool for teams?
Yes. Seamlift's Blender add-on renders the scene or Video Sequencer range to a review MP4, uploads it as a new version, and lets clients leave frame-accurate notes from a link without an account. It also shares .glb models through the project, with a 3D viewer in the browser where project members pin comments to the model.
How do I share Blender renders with a client for feedback?
Render a review MP4 and upload it to a video review tool, then send the client a link with comments turned on. With Seamlift's add-on, the render and upload are one click from Blender's sidebar, and your output settings are restored afterwards.
Can clients comment on a 3D model, not just a render?
Yes. Upload a .glb to the project and members of the project can orbit it in the browser and pin comments to points on the model. Members can be added for free; you pay only for storage. Each pin remembers the camera view it was left from.
Which Blender versions does the add-on support?
Blender 4.2 or newer, on Windows, macOS and Linux.
What does it cost?
The add-on is free with any Seamlift account. Seamlift charges only for storage, with 10 GB free and no card needed. See pricing.
